The earliest reference I have to Stannington is in the 1935 Stone & Burgess's New Milton Directory, when the bungalow was known as Stannington Cottage, and the owner was listed as J.S. Pickard. By the 1950s, Stannington, as it was known then, was owned by A.E. Palmer.
Following a move from offices in a privately owned house at 90 Station Road, the bungalow was used as council offices and by the Citizens Advice Bureau, in recent years. Stannington was demolished in October 2003 to make way for car parking for the newly-built Town Hall.
